Switching speed and noise rejection
The 75 ns max propagation delay (tpLH / tpHL) and 17 ns typical rise time keep the output edges clean enough for 10 Mbps signalling — the Schottky clamp on the output transistor prevents saturation lag, so the fall time stays at 5 ns typ. Compared to the HCPL0637R2 (5 kV/µs CMTI), this part offers 5× the transient immunity, which is the deciding factor when the optocoupler sits on a 600V switching node; the HCPL0638R2 sits in between at 10 kV/µs.
