What this optoisolator does on the board
The H11L1SR2VM is a single-channel optoisolator from onsemi that passes a DC-coupled digital signal across a galvanic isolation barrier rated at 4170 Vrms. Its open-collector output swings from 3 V to 15 V on the supply side, so it can drive 5 V logic, 12 V PLC inputs, or a 15 V industrial bus without a separate level translator. The 1 MHz data rate covers most fieldbus and encoder feedback lines, though it will not keep up with 10 Mbps Ethernet or high-speed CAN FD.
Timing and drive margin for the BOM
Propagation delay is 4 µs max in both directions, and rise/fall time is 100 ns typical. That 4 µs latency adds up in a closed-loop servo or a safety-rated PLC scan cycle — budget the delay into your worst-case loop timing.
Package fit for the layout
The 6-SMD gull-wing footprint is a standard optocoupler layout — the same pad pattern used by the H11N1 and 6N137 families. If your board already has a 6-pin SMD optoisolator, the H11L1SR2VM will drop in with no layout change, though you need to confirm the LED forward current (1.2 Vf typ, 30 mA max) and the output pull-up resistor value for your supply rail.
