What the 5300Vrms isolation and CTR range mean for your circuit
The H11A617A provides 5300Vrms galvanic isolation between input and output — enough to separate a 240VAC mains-side sensor signal from a low-voltage controller without risking a ground loop or a fault path across the barrier. Current transfer ratio is guaranteed between 40% and 80% at a forward current of 10mA. At the low end, 40% CTR means the output transistor can sink at least 4mA into a 5V pull-up — enough to drive a logic input or a small relay coil. The upper bound prevents excessive saturation drive that would slow turn-off. Output breakdown is rated 70V collector-emitter, with a maximum continuous output current of 50mA per channel. The 400mV Vce(sat) at rated current keeps the voltage drop low in the on-state, minimising power dissipation in the optocoupler. Rise and fall times are 2.4µs typical — this optocoupler switches comfortably at data rates up to about 100kHz, suitable for isolating digital signals like PLC inputs, encoder pulses, or relay-drive commands.

Housed in a 4-DIP (0.300-inch, 7.62mm pitch) through-hole package — the same footprint as the industry-standard H11A series. The 4-DIP body is 0.200 inches high, fitting into sockets or wave-solder boards with standard 0.100-inch pin spacing. Rated for operation from -55°C to +100°C ambient — the full industrial temperature band.
