7500 Vpk isolation — reinforced-grade barrier
The headline rating is 7500 Vpk isolation voltage — that is a reinforced-grade insulation barrier, not basic. For a motor-drive IGBT gate driver or a medical patient-contact interface, this single-channel optocoupler provides the creepage and clearance margin needed to pass IEC 60950-1 reinforced isolation testing. The DC input side drives an IR LED (typical Vf 1.18 V at 10 mA forward current, absolute max 60 mA). The output is a phototransistor with the base brought out — the base pin lets the designer set the switching threshold with an external resistor or bias the transistor into linear mode for analog isolation.
30% CTR floor at 10 mA — derate for temperature
Minimum current transfer ratio is 30 % at If = 10 mA, Vce = 10 V. That is the worst-case CTR across temperature and age. Switching is rated 2 µs turn-on and 2 µs turn-off typical. That limits the practical data rate to about 100 kbit/s in a saturated switch — fast enough for 50/60 Hz line sync, status feedback, or low-speed isolated serial links, but not for CAN or RS-485.
6-SMD gull wing — surface-mount reflow profile
The H11A5SVM comes in a 6-SMD gull wing package with a 7.62 mm (300 mil) body width — the same footprint as the standard DIP-6 but with formed leads for surface mounting. The supplier device package is 6-SMD; the lead pitch is 2.54 mm (0.100 inch). The gull-wing leads sit 0.25 mm above the board, so the stand-off allows standard solder paste stencil and reflow without a separate wash step. The 400 mV Vce(sat) maximum at If = 10 mA, Ic = 2 mA means the output transistor saturates cleanly into a logic input or a 5 V load. Output voltage rating is 30 V max — adequate for 24 V industrial logic rails.
