Isolation and signal transfer
The H11A3W: The 20% minimum CTR at 10 mA forward current means the output transistor can drive a logic input or a small relay coil with adequate gain margin. Switching speed is 2 µs typical for both turn-on and turn-off — fast enough for 100 kHz data rates in digital isolation or low-speed communication interfaces. The 400 mV Vce saturation ensures the output drops close to ground when saturated, keeping logic-level thresholds clean.
The tube packaging is typical for hand-insertion or low-volume assembly; for reflow, the part is not MSL-rated but the through-hole body is robust to wave-solder profiles. Operating temperature range of -55°C to 100°C covers industrial and some automotive under-hood environments — the 100 mA max forward current and 30 V output rating give headroom for driving 5 V or 12 V logic rails with a series resistor.
