20 Mbps push-pull optocoupler for industrial logic isolation
The FODM8071 is a single-channel digital optoisolator from onsemi that delivers 20 Mbps data rate with a push-pull, totem-pole output. It is designed for isolating high-speed digital signals in industrial fieldbuses, PLC digital I/O, and motor-drive feedback paths. The output type eliminates the need for a pull-up resistor and directly drives CMOS or TTL logic inputs. Propagation delay is 55 ns max, and rise/fall times are 5.8 ns / 5.3 ns typ, keeping signal edge degradation low at 20 Mbps.
Isolation and transient immunity for motor-drive environments
With 3750 Vrms isolation and a common-mode transient immunity of 20 kV/µs minimum, the FODM8071 maintains output state integrity during fast switching events in inverter legs or motor-drive power stages. The 20 kV/µs CMTI rating is a key spec for avoiding false pulses in noisy industrial environments. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 110°C covers industrial and outdoor telecom enclosures where ambient heat and cold extremes are routine.
Supply flexibility and package footprint
The FODM8071 operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply, so it works with both 3.3V and 5V logic families without a separate level shifter. Input is DC-coupled with a typical forward voltage of 1.35V and a maximum forward current of 20 mA. It comes in a 5-lead Mini-Flat package. The surface-mount package is supplied in Tube.
