Industrial fieldbus isolation with 10 Mbps switching
The FODM611R2 is a single-channel, 10 Mbps optocoupler from onsemi designed for galvanic isolation in industrial communication links such as Profibus, DeviceNet, and RS-485 interfaces. Its open-collector output with Schottky clamp directly drives 5V logic families without external level shifting. The 3750 Vrms isolation rating meets reinforced insulation requirements per IEC 60747-5-5, suitable for mains-connected equipment where safety isolation is mandatory.
Common-mode transient immunity for motor-drive environments
With a minimum common-mode transient immunity of 20 kV/µs, the FODM611R2 rejects fast dV/dt edges from IGBT and SiC switching in variable-frequency drives and motor inverters. This is a 4× improvement over the HCPL0600R2 (5 kV/µs typ) and double the 6N137SM (10 kV/µs typ), making it the stronger choice for noisy power-stage isolation. Propagation delay is symmetrical at 100 ns max for both tpLH and tpHL, with rise/fall times of 20 ns and 10 ns typical, preserving pulse-width integrity in time-critical fieldbus frames.
Active production with tape-and-reel packaging
It is supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options, suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly. The 5-Mini-Flat package is a 6-SOIC footprint with 5 leads, 4.40 mm body width.
