The FODM214AR2 is an active-production phototransistor optoisolator from onsemi's FODM214 series, rated for 3750Vrms isolation in a compact 4-SOIC package (4.40 mm width). This isolation level is enough for basic mains-referenced circuits — think AC line sensing, relay drive, or isolated feedback in a 24 V industrial control loop.
CTR range and switching speed for logic interfacing
Current transfer ratio spans 50% to 250% at a 1 mA forward current — that wide spread means you can design for LED current as low as 1 mA and still guarantee a logic-high at the output, even after LED ageing or across temperature. Typical rise and fall times are 3 µs each, which suits 10–100 kHz switching for PLC inputs or digital isolator replacement.
AC/DC input, 80 V output rating
The input side accepts both AC and DC drive — handy if you are coupling a 50/60 Hz mains signal directly through a resistor. Output transistor is rated for 80 V maximum and 50 mA continuous, so it can drive a 5 V or 3.3 V logic rail through a pull-up resistor without a level shifter.
