5000Vrms isolation in a rework-friendly 4-SOP
The FODM1009 is a single-channel optocoupler from onsemi with a DC input and transistor output, delivering 5000Vrms of galvanic isolation in a 4-SMD gull-wing package. That isolation rating covers the reinforced insulation requirements for many industrial and appliance power supplies, motor drives, and PLC digital inputs.
CTR margin and switching speed for BOM fit
The current transfer ratio is specified from 200% to 400% at a 5mA forward current, giving you a 2× gain margin over the minimum. That means the output transistor can saturate reliably even when the LED degrades over temperature or time. Typical rise and fall times are 5.7µs and 8.5µs respectively, which is fast enough for 10–20 kHz switching or status feedback loops but not for high-speed data isolation. The output transistor is rated for 70V Vce and 50mA continuous current, so it can drive a small relay coil, a logic gate input, or a 5V/24V PLC module directly without a buffer transistor.
