The FOD817CS provides 5000Vrms isolation between input and output, meeting reinforced isolation requirements for mains-connected industrial controls, power supplies, and motor drives. That 5kV rating is the spec that determines creepage and clearance on the PCB — the 4-SMD gull-wing package gives you a surface-mount footprint with enough pin spacing to hold off the voltage without conformal coating.
