5000Vrms isolation with AC/DC input flexibility
The FOD814ASD is an onsemi optoisolator rated for 5000Vrms isolation in a 4-SMD gull-wing package. Its input accepts both AC and DC, which means a single part can sense line-voltage zero-crossings or DC logic levels without a separate bridge rectifier — a practical advantage for motor-drive feedback and industrial PLC input modules.
CTR at low forward current drives the LED budget
Current transfer ratio is specified at 1 mA forward current: minimum 50%, maximum 150%. At 1 mA the LED draws well under the 50 mA absolute maximum, keeping the input-side power budget tight. The 70 V output rating and 50 mA output current cover most 24 V logic rails and relay-coil interfaces.
Industrial temperature range and switching speed
Operating temperature spans -55°C to 105°C, suiting outdoor telecom cabinets and factory-floor enclosures where ambient can hit 85°C. Typical rise and fall times are 4 µs and 3 µs — fast enough for 10 kHz switching or optocoupler-based serial links, but not for high-speed digital isolation.
