5000Vrms isolation, 3A peak drive
The FOD3182SDV is an optocoupled gate driver from onsemi, rated for 5000Vrms galvanic isolation and delivering a 3A peak output. That isolation level is the standard for motor-drive and inverter applications where the control side must be protected from the high-voltage power stage. Rise and fall times of 38ns and 24ns keep switching losses in the external MOSFET or IGBT low, while the 210ns max propagation delay is symmetric between turn-on and turn-off — important for dead-time management in half-bridge topologies. The 35kV/µs common-mode transient immunity means the output stays clean when the power-stage midpoint slews at tens of kilovolts per microsecond — a common failure point in motor drives that can cause shoot-through if the driver false-triggers.
Industrial temp grade and supply range
Operating from -40°C to 100°C, the FOD3182SDV fits factory-floor and outdoor equipment without qualification exceptions. The output supply range of 10V to 30V covers standard gate-drive rails for IGBTs and power MOSFETs. The 2.5A source and 2.5A sink capability is symmetric, so the gate charges and discharges at the same rate — this simplifies dead-time calculation in complementary switching stages.
Active production, 8-SMD Gull Wing package
Supplied in 8-SMD Gull Wing with Tape & Reel or Cut Tape options. The Gull Wing leads are easier to inspect and rework than J-bend or QFN packages, which matters for production-line yield and field repair.
