5000Vrms isolation for motor-drive gate drive
With 5000Vrms of galvanic isolation, the FOD3180TSV is built to separate the low-voltage controller side from the high-voltage power stage in motor drives, UPS inverters, and industrial power supplies. The 2.5A peak output current drives medium-power IGBTs and MOSFETs directly — no external buffer needed, which saves a couple of parts on the BOM.
15kV/µs CMTI keeps the gate clean in noisy inverters
Common-mode transient immunity is a minimum of 15kV/µs. That matters when the high-side switch in a half-bridge transitions at high dv/dt — without enough CMTI, the optocoupler's output can glitch and shoot through the power stage. This part holds the gate signal steady through that edge.
Industrial temp range and fast edges
Rated from -40°C to 100°C, so it handles the thermal swing inside a factory-floor cabinet or an outdoor telecom enclosure. Rise and fall times are 75ns and 55ns typical — fast enough for PWM frequencies up to several tens of kHz without excessive switching loss.
Package and approvals
Housed in an 8-SMD Gull Wing package (supplier device package 8-SMD), surface-mount with a standard footprint. Approved by cUL, UL, and VDE — the safety marks that plant inspectors and regulatory reviewers look for on the isolation barrier.
