Gate-drive optocoupler with certified reinforced isolation
The FOD3180SV is a single-channel optocoupler gate driver from onsemi, rated for 5000Vrms isolation with cUL, UL, and VDE approvals — the certification trio that motor-drive and inverter designs need for safety agency sign-off. Its 2.5A peak output current drives the gate charge of IGBTs and MOSFETs up to several hundred amps, with typical rise/fall times of 75ns and 55ns respectively.
Parametric fit for inverter and motor-drive stages
Output supply range 10V to 20V covers standard gate-drive rails for 600V and 1200V IGBTs; the 2A source/sink capability ensures the Miller plateau is crossed without excessive switching loss. Common-mode transient immunity of 15kV/µs minimum prevents false turn-on when the upper switch in a half-bridge slews the output node — a common failure mode in hard-switched inverters.
