5000Vrms isolation in an 8-SMD Gull Wing package
The onsemi FOD2741ASV is a single-channel optoisolator with a DC-input LED and a phototransistor output, rated for 5000Vrms isolation between primary and secondary sides. That isolation voltage covers reinforced insulation requirements in mains-connected power supplies, motor drives, and industrial I/O modules where galvanic separation is needed to protect low-voltage logic from high-voltage transients or ground loops. Housed in an 8-SMD Gull Wing package (Supplier Device Package 8-SMD), it is designed for reflow soldering on standard surface-mount boards. The Gull Wing leads provide a visual solder-joint inspection point and relieve mechanical stress between the package body and the PCB during thermal cycling.
CTR range and drive margin for the downstream load
A 100% CTR means that with 10mA into the LED, the output transistor can sink at least 10mA — enough to drive a standard logic gate input or a low-power relay coil directly. The 200% ceiling ensures the output does not saturate too hard, which would slow the turn-off time in high-speed applications. The output transistor is rated for 30V maximum collector-emitter voltage and 50mA continuous current per channel, with a saturation voltage of 400mV max at the rated current.
This makes the FOD2741ASV suitable for factory-floor PLCs, motor-drive feedback circuits, and outdoor telecom equipment where ambient temperatures can swing below freezing or above 70°C inside an enclosure.
