Isolation rating and CTR — what they mean for the BOM
The FOD2741AS: 5000Vrms isolation between input and output — this is the figure that determines whether the optoisolator meets the safety isolation requirement for a given application, such as reinforced insulation in medical or industrial power supplies. Current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 100% minimum and 200% maximum, both at 10 mA forward current — the 100% floor guarantees the output transistor can sink at least 10 mA when the LED is driven at 10 mA, which sets the minimum LED drive current for a given load. Output transistor is rated for 50 mA continuous current and 30 V collector-emitter voltage, with a 400 mV saturation voltage at the rated current — adequate for driving logic inputs, relays, or low-power loads in isolated feedback loops.
Supplied in an 8-SMD Gull Wing package (8-SMD supplier device package) — the Gull Wing leads allow visual inspection of solder joints and are compatible with standard reflow profiles for surface-mount assembly. Delivered in tube packaging — not tape-and-reel, so pick-and-place feeders may require tube feeders or manual placement depending on the assembly line setup.
Temperature grade and compliance
ROHS3 compliant — no restricted substances above the threshold limits, clearing EU and global regulatory requirements for new designs.
