Parametric profile and board-fit
The FOD2712A is a single-channel phototransistor optoisolator in an 8-SOIC package, with a DC input LED and a transistor output rated for 30 V collector-emitter and 50 mA continuous current. The 2500 Vrms isolation rating covers basic galvanic isolation for signal-level separation in industrial control, PLC digital inputs, and power-supply feedback loops. Current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 100% minimum and 200% maximum when the LED is driven at 10 mA — this 2:1 spread gives the designer enough margin to guarantee a logic-high at the receiver across temperature and LED aging without overdriving the input.
It is RoHS3 compliant, so it meets the latest EU restriction directive without requiring an exemption. The tube packaging (standard SOIC-8 tube) is the common delivery form for prototype and low-to-mid volume assembly; tape-and-reel variants are available under different order codes.
