Galvanic barrier with 5000Vrms and a 2:1 CTR spread
The FOD2711ASD is a single-channel optoisolator from onsemi that couples a DC input LED to a phototransistor output across a 5000Vrms isolation barrier. The current transfer ratio spans 100% to 200% at a 10 mA forward current — a 2:1 min-to-max spread that forces the designer to bias the LED for the worst-case CTR to guarantee the output saturates into the load. The transistor output is rated for 30 V and 50 mA continuous, with a maximum Vce(sat) of 400 mV.
Industrial temperature grade and surface-mount footprint
Rated for -40°C to 85°C, the FOD2711ASD covers industrial and outdoor applications where the ambient swings beyond commercial limits. The 8-SMD gull-wing package suits standard reflow soldering and allows visual inspection of the solder joints. The input is DC only; no AC line coupling without an external bridge.
