10 Mbps open-collector optocoupler for isolated digital links
The FOD260LSD from onsemi is a single-channel optoisolator rated for 10Mbps data rate with 5000Vrms isolation, making it a fit for isolating fast digital signals like encoder outputs, PLC digital inputs, or communication interfaces where you need to break ground loops without slowing the edge. The open-collector output with Schottky clamp lets you pull the output to any supply rail from 3V to 5.5V — useful when the receiving logic runs at a different voltage than the isolated side.
25 kV/µs CMTI and 90 ns propagation delay
Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 25kV/µs minimum — this is the spec that matters when the optocoupler sits across a motor-drive phase or a switching power supply; without it, fast voltage swings on the primary side couple through the parasitic capacitance and flip the output state. Propagation delay is 90 ns max for low-to-high and 75 ns max for high-to-low, with typical rise and fall times of 22 ns and 3 ns respectively. That timing budget keeps the part usable for 10 Mbps NRZ data without pulse-width distortion eating into the bit period.
Active production — no end-of-life watch needed
The FOD260LSD is listed as Active with ROHS3 compliance. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) in the 8-SMD gull-wing package.
Industrial temperature range and supply flexibility
Operating temperature spans -40°C to 85°C, covering factory-floor cabinets, outdoor telecom shelters, and under-hood automotive auxiliary boxes without needing a mil-temp part. The input side is a DC-coupled LED with typical forward voltage 1.4V and max forward current 50 mA. The output side can sink up to 50 mA per channel — enough to drive a downstream optocoupler or a small relay coil directly.
