What 25Mbps and 20kV/µs CMTI mean on the bench
The FOD0721: The 20kV/µs common-mode transient immunity means the output does not glitch when a motor drive or inverter switches — the isolation barrier rejects the fast voltage step that would otherwise couple through a slower opto. This is the spec that matters in a VFD or servo drive application. Propagation delay is 40ns max both ways — the part can handle a 12.5MHz clock without timing violations, but the 40ns adds to the loop latency in a closed-loop control path. For a 100kHz PWM cycle, 40ns is negligible; for a 1MHz switching regulator feedback, it starts to matter.
Package and field-swap reality
8-SOIC with 1.27mm pitch — hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron and some flux. No hot-air station required unless you are removing it from a board with a solid ground plane. The pin 1 mark is a dot on the package top; orientation is obvious once you see it. Industrial temperature range -40°C to 100°C covers most enclosures — the part will run in an unheated cabinet or a hot panel near a drive heatsink.
Lifecycle and compliance
The output is push-pull / totem-pole, so it drives a CMOS or TTL input directly without a pull-up resistor — one less component on the BOM. The 10mA per-channel output current is enough for a standard logic gate input, not for driving a relay coil or LED directly.
