25 Mbps digital isolation in an 8-SOIC footprint
The FOD0720R2 is a single-channel logic-gate optoisolator from onsemi that delivers 25 Mbps data rate across a 3750 Vrms isolation barrier. Its push-pull, totem-pole output eliminates the need for an external pull-up resistor, saving board space in high-speed digital isolation applications. The 8-SOIC narrow-body package (3.90 mm width) is a common footprint for optoisolators, making the FOD0720R2 a drop-in candidate for designs already using similar SOIC-8 isolators.
40 ns propagation delay and 20 kV/µs CMTI
Maximum propagation delay is 40 ns for both tpLH and tpHL, which keeps timing skew low in clocked interfaces like SPI or CAN. The typical rise and fall times of 5 ns and 4.5 ns maintain signal integrity at 25 Mbps. Common-mode transient immunity is rated at a minimum of 20 kV/µs, meaning the output does not glitch when a fast voltage transient slams across the isolation barrier—essential in motor-drive or inverter environments where IGBT switching creates high dV/dt.

Design-in checklist: supply rail and temperature grade
Operates from a single 4.5 V to 5.5 V supply rail—the same 5 V rail that powers the downstream logic. The output channel sinks or sources 10 mA, enough to drive a standard CMOS or TTL input directly. Rated for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 100°C, so it fits factory-floor controls, outdoor telecom cabinets, and under-hood automotive modules that see temperature cycling.
