For a 12.5 Mbps NRZ signal, the bit period is 80 ns; the 40 ns propagation delay consumes half the bit period, leaving 40 ns of margin for cable delay, receiver setup time, and clock jitter before the next edge arrives. Common-mode transient immunity is specified at a minimum of 20 kV/µs — this is the key parameter for surviving fast voltage transients across the isolation barrier in motor-drive or inverter applications. A 20 kV/µs edge means the output does not glitch when the ground plane jumps 1000 V in 50 ns, which is typical of IGBT switching events in a 400 V drive.
