The onsemi FOD0710 is a single-channel digital optoisolator with a logic-level input and a push-pull, totem-pole output. It switches at 12.5 Mbps with a 40 ns max propagation delay, so it keeps up with fast industrial fieldbus or encoder signals without skewing the timing budget. Rated for 3750 Vrms isolation and a minimum common-mode transient immunity of 20 kV/µs, it rejects motor-drive or inverter noise that would otherwise couple across the isolation barrier and corrupt the logic side.

Package and rework reality

The tube packaging means the parts arrive aligned and ESD-safe, but the tube itself can trap moisture if the seal is broken. If the board goes through a no-clean flux wash, a 24-hour bake at 60 °C before reflow is cheap insurance against popcorning.

The 10 mA per-channel output drives a standard CMOS or TTL load without a buffer.
