Zener ESD clamp for 5V–7V rails
The onsemi ESD5Z7.0T1 is a single-channel unidirectional Zener ESD protection diode in the SOD-523 package. It clamps transients at a 7.5V minimum breakdown voltage, with a 7V max reverse standoff — meaning it will not conduct appreciably below 7V, making it a fit for protecting 5V or 3.3V power rails or low-speed I/O lines where the signal swing stays under 7V.
Peak pulse rating and capacitance — where it fits
Rated for 200W peak pulse power (8/20 µs waveform) and 8.8A peak pulse current, this diode can handle moderate ESD strikes and short-duration surges. The 65 pF capacitance at 1 MHz is high compared to low-cap ESD diodes (1–5 pF), so it loads high-speed data lines — reserve it for power inputs, pushbuttons, or low-frequency signals where the extra capacitance does not degrade edge rates.
onsemi lists the ESD5Z7.0T1 as Obsolete. If you have an active BOM line with this order code, you need to either secure a last-time-buy quantity or qualify a replacement. The SOD-523 footprint is common — many Zener ESD diodes from onsemi and other vendors share the same package and pinout, but the 7V standoff and 200W rating narrow the cross.
