onsemi has marked the CNY17F2 as Obsolete. This part is sourced through independent distribution channels — quantities are lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ.
Isolation and CTR — what they mean for the BOM
Rated for 5300Vrms isolation — this is the reinforced insulation level for mains-isolated interfaces in industrial PSUs, motor drives, and PLC digital inputs. The 6-DIP package provides the creepage distance to sustain that rating across the barrier. Current transfer ratio spans 63% minimum to 125% maximum at If=10mA. The 63% floor means the output transistor can sink at least 6.3mA with 10mA LED drive — sufficient to pull a 5V logic input low through a 680Ω pull-up. The 125% ceiling ensures the part does not saturate the receiver's input stage at the same drive current. Output transistor is rated for 70V Vce max and 50mA continuous collector current — suitable for switching 24V PLC inputs or driving a low-current relay coil directly. Vce saturation is 300mV max, keeping the on-state voltage drop well below the logic-low threshold of a 5V TTL input.
Switching speed and temperature range
Turn-on and turn-off times are 2µs and 3µs typical respectively; rise and fall times are 1µs and 2µs. This limits the usable data rate to roughly 100 kbit/s in a digital isolator application — adequate for 24V DC fieldbus signals or slow PWM updates, but not for high-speed serial links. Operating temperature spans -55°C to 100°C — the full industrial range. The 100°C upper limit covers most factory-floor and outdoor cabinet environments, though the LED forward current may need derating above 85°C to stay within the 100mA absolute maximum.
