Isolation and signal transfer — 5300 Vrms with 160-320% CTR
The CNY174300W provides 5300 Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED (1.35 Vf typical) and a phototransistor output with base access. This isolation level suits industrial interfaces where safety isolation between a 24 V control side and a logic-level receiver is required — common in PLC digital inputs, motor-drive feedback, and AC-mains monitoring circuits. That range gives the designer a known gain window for sizing the pull-up resistor and ensuring the output logic threshold is met across temperature and LED ageing.
Output ratings and switching speed
The output transistor is rated for 70 V collector-emitter and 50 mA continuous current, with a Vce(sat) of 300 mV max. Typical turn-on time is 2 µs, turn-off 3 µs, with rise/fall of 1 µs / 2 µs. That places the usable data rate around 100 kbit/s — fine for status feedback, fault signals, or low-speed serial isolation, but not for high-speed fieldbus couplers.
Package and temperature grade
Supplied in a 6-lead DIP package with 0.400-inch (10.16 mm) body width — the standard through-hole footprint that mates with a 7.62 mm pitch socket or solders directly into plated holes. The operating temperature range of -55°C to +100°C covers industrial and some military/aerospace environments.
