5300 Vrms isolation in a 6-SMD Gull Wing package
The onsemi CNY1733SD is a single-channel optoisolator in a 6-SMD Gull Wing package, designed for DC input and transistor-with-base output.
CTR and switching speed — what they mean for the BOM
Current transfer ratio (CTR) is specified at 100% minimum to 200% maximum, tested at 10 mA forward current. This means the output transistor can sink at least as much current as the LED drives — a 10 mA input guarantees at least 10 mA output drive capability, with margin up to 20 mA. The 70 V output maximum and 50 mA continuous output current handle typical logic-level loads and low-power relay coils directly. Switching speed is defined by 1 µs rise and 2 µs fall times (typical), with turn-on at 2 µs and turn-off at 3 µs. This places it in the medium-speed class — adequate for 100 kHz PWM feedback and serial data isolation up to a few hundred kbps, but not for high-speed digital buses like CAN or RS-485 where faster optocouplers or digital isolators are needed. The 300 mV max Vce saturation at rated output current keeps power dissipation low in the output transistor, reducing thermal stress on the SMD package when driving loads near the 50 mA limit.
Rated for -55°C to 100°C operating temperature, the CNY1733SD covers industrial and some military-grade environments. The 6-SMD Gull Wing package (supplier device package 6-SMD) is a standard footprint for optoisolators, compatible with reflow soldering processes. The Tape & Reel packaging indicates it ships on a reel suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly.
onsemi has marked the CNY1733SD as Obsolete.
