5300Vrms isolation — what it means for the board
The CNY173300 provides 5300Vrms galvanic isolation between input and output — a reinforced isolation rating that meets IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 spacing requirements for mains-connected equipment. In a PLC digital input module or a motor-drive feedback interface, this barrier protects the low-voltage logic side from transient surges on the field side. The 6-DIP through-hole package (0.300" lead spacing) mates with standard 0.100" pitch DIP sockets or solders directly into a plated through-hole board — no reflow profile needed, and the creepage distance between pins on the 7.62mm-wide body supports the 5300Vrms rating in clean-air environments.
CTR, Vce(sat), and output drive — the real selection numbers
This means with 10 mA forward current the output transistor saturates to a Vce of 300mV max — the CTR floor guarantees the output can sink the rated 50 mA without dropping out of saturation. For a 24V PLC input, the 70V Vce(max) rating leaves headroom above the rail. Switching speed is modest: 1 µs rise, 2 µs fall, with turn-on/turn-off times of 2 µs and 3 µs typical. This suits 10–100 kHz data rates in isolated serial interfaces or slow digital I/O, but not high-speed fieldbus couplers.
