4170Vrms isolation – safety-rated galvanic barrier
The CNY172SR2VM provides 4170Vrms isolation between input and output, meeting reinforced insulation requirements for industrial and medical equipment where a fault on one side must not propagate to the other. The single-channel transistor-with-base output gives the designer access to the base terminal for Miller-effect compensation or phototransistor biasing in low-level signal paths.
63-125% CTR at 10 mA – guaranteed drive margin
Minimum Current Transfer Ratio of 63% at If=10 mA (max 125%) means the output can sink at least 6.3 mA when the LED is driven at 10 mA. This 2:1 CTR spread accounts for LED degradation over life and temperature drift, so the input-side series resistor can be sized for the worst-case minimum without risking output saturation loss. Vce(sat) is clamped at 400 mV max, keeping the output voltage drop low in logic-level interfaces.
Active production – sourcing via RFQ
It is RoHS3 compliant.
6-SMD Gull Wing – visual-inspection-friendly footprint
The 6-SMD Gull Wing package allows post-reflow solder joint inspection, unlike leadless packages. The 6-SMD supplier device package is the same body, so the PCB footprint is identical for both orderable suffixes.
4 µs / 3.5 µs switching – slow but predictable
Rise and fall times typ 4 µs and 3.5 µs max. Turn-on/turn-off times typ 2 µs / 3 µs. These numbers cap the practical data rate at roughly 100 kbps, which is adequate for status feedback, relay drivers, or zero-cross detection in AC mains monitoring. For faster isolation, consider a digital isolator; for this class, the timing is consistent across temperature.
