5 MP rolling-shutter sensor for machine vision and surveillance
The onsemi AR0522SRSC09SURA0-DR is a 5-megapixel CMOS image sensor built around a 2592H x 1944V active pixel array, delivering 60 full-resolution frames per second. The 2.2 µm x 2.2 µm pixel size gives it a decent sensitivity-to-resolution balance for indoor and controlled-lighting imaging tasks.
What the 60 fps and 5 MP mean for your design
At 60 fps with a 5 MP readout, this sensor keeps up with fast-moving objects on a conveyor or people walking through a security gate without motion blur at standard shutter speeds. The 2592 x 1944 resolution gives a 4:3 aspect ratio that crops well to 1080p or 2K video modes while retaining a wide field of view. The 2.2 µm pixel pitch is a middle ground — smaller than the 3 µm class used in low-light security cameras, but larger than the sub-1.5 µm pixels in high-density phone sensors. It works well with f/1.6 to f/2.8 lenses in typical indoor lighting (300–1000 lux) without excessive gain noise.
The sensor comes in a 52-lead PLCC package supplied in trays. The PLCC footprint is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron and a steady hand — the leads are on a 1.27 mm pitch, which is more forgiving than QFN or BGA alternatives. A hot-air rework station makes removal and replacement straightforward.
