4170Vrms isolation in a standard 6-DIP
The onsemi 4N25M is a single-channel optocoupler in a 6-DIP through-hole package, providing 4170Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output with base access. With a minimum current transfer ratio of 20% at 10mA forward current, it guarantees signal transfer across the isolation barrier even with moderate LED drive — useful for logic-level interfaces and status feedback in industrial controls. Switching is rated at 2µs turn-on and 2µs turn-off typical, which suits low-to-mid speed isolation applications like PLC digital inputs, relay drivers, and AC mains zero-cross detectors.
Through-hole fit for field service and prototyping
The 6-DIP (0.300-inch, 7.62mm) body with through-hole pins is breadboard-friendly and can be socketed or soldered — no hot-air station needed, so it is a solid pick for bench bring-up or a field swap where the kit has a soldering iron and a desoldering pump. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 100°C, covering most indoor and outdoor equipment enclosures without derating concerns. Maximum output voltage is 30V, and the phototransistor saturates at 500mV max — the base pin allows external biasing or feedback compensation for tighter switching thresholds.
