Obsolete — independent-channel sourcing
The 4N25FR2VM is marked obsolete by onsemi.
7500 Vpk isolation — what it means for the BOM
The 7500 Vpk isolation voltage is the peak repetitive rating between input and output — this part is sized for reinforced insulation in mains-isolated feedback loops, motor-drive phase-current sensing, or medical-patient interface barriers where the working voltage is 250 Vrms or less and the transient withstand needs a wide margin. The 20 % minimum current transfer ratio at 10 mA forward current sets the LED drive budget — for a given collector load resistor, the CTR floor determines whether the output saturates at the minimum forward current. At 10 mA If, the collector can sink at least 2 mA before the Vce rises above the 500 mV saturation ceiling.
Switching speed and parametric limits
Typical turn-on and turn-off times are 2 µs each — this is a general-purpose phototransistor coupler, not a high-speed digital isolator. The 2 µs propagation limits the useful data rate to roughly 250 kbps in a saturated-switching application; above that the output rise time dominates the bit period. Maximum collector-emitter voltage is 30 V, and the LED forward current ceiling is 60 mA — the part suits 5 V or 12 V logic-level isolation but not 24 V industrial rails without a series resistor that keeps Vce within the 30 V limit. Operating temperature spans -55°C to 100°C — the lower end covers military/aerospace cold-soak conditions; the upper end is below the 125°C junction limit of most automotive-grade couplers, so this is an industrial/commercial temperature grade.
Package — 6-SMD gull wing on reel
The gull-wing leads are compatible with standard reflow profiles and allow visual inspection of the solder joints after assembly. Packaged in Tape & Reel — the reel quantity is the procurement unit; partial reels are quoted on request.
