What this Zener TVS protects and where it fits
The 1N6379G is a unidirectional Zener TVS diode from the onsemi Mosorb™ series, designed to clamp transients on a 22V nominal rail. It delivers 1500W peak pulse power (1.5kW) at 10/1000µs waveform, clamping at 37.5V maximum — the number that tells you whether the protected device survives the surge. The axial package (through-hole) is a standard footprint for board-level transient protection in power supplies, industrial controls, and telecom line cards. The -65°C to 175°C junction temperature range covers outdoor and underhood environments without derating concerns.
Clamping voltage and standoff — the protection window
The reverse standoff voltage is 22V — the rail voltage below which the diode draws negligible leakage. Breakdown starts at 25.9V minimum, and the clamp voltage at peak pulse current is 37.5V maximum. The buyer's downstream component must survive that 37.5V clamp for the pulse duration. This is a unidirectional device (one channel). It does not include power line protection — it is intended for signal or low-power rail clamping, not AC mains.
onsemi lists the 1N6379G as Obsolete. No official successor is published. For BOM positions that still call out this exact ordering code, the supply channel is the independent market — we source from verified inventory on a per-RFQ basis. The base product number is 1N6379. If your BOM lists 1N6379 without the suffix, confirm the package — the die and electrical ratings are identical.
