What this Zener TVS does on the board
The 1N6283A is a unidirectional Zener TVS from the onsemi Mosorb™ series, rated for 1500W peak pulse power at 1ms. It clamps transients on a 28.2V nominal rail, with a minimum breakdown of 31.4V and a maximum clamping voltage of 45.7V at the rated Ipp. The DO-201AD axial package is through-hole, which means it survives a hot-air rework cycle without lifting a pad — the leads are robust enough to hand-solder back if a replacement is needed.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
onsemi lists the 1N6283A as Obsolete. The operating temperature range is -65°C to 175°C junction, which covers military and industrial environments. The wide range does not change the obsolete status — it just means any stock you find was built to the original spec.
Package and mounting — rework-friendly axial lead
DO-201AD axial leads are through-hole — the body is 9.1 mm long typical, leads are 1.3 mm diameter. The part is, so you get loose parts, not tape-and-reel. That is fine for bench repair or low-volume production; for automated insertion you would need to confirm feeder compatibility. No power line protection — this is a unidirectional device for DC rail clamping. The single channel means one TVS per rail; if you need bidirectional, look at the 'C' suffix variants in the same series.
