5 V slot sensor with NPN open-collector output — what it is and where it fits
The Omron EE-SX672A is a through-beam optical slot sensor in a chassis-mount package. It runs on a fixed 5 V supply rail and switches an NPN open-collector output — meaning the load connects between the collector and the positive rail, and the sensor sinks current when the beam is interrupted. The slot gap is 5 mm, sized for flag, tab, or edge detection in copiers, printers, packaging machinery, and light industrial automation where the target passes through a narrow gap.

Response time is 1 ms. That handles paper edges, mechanical flags, and slow-moving targets.
