Automotive CAN transceiver for 5 Mbps bus nodes
The NXP TJA1043TK/1Y is a half-duplex CAN transceiver rated for 5 Mbps data rate, designed for automotive bus nodes where the protocol layer meets the physical twisted pair. The single driver/receiver pair handles one CAN channel with a 120 mV receiver hysteresis that filters noise on the differential bus lines — enough margin to reject common-mode transients without losing valid recessive-to-dominant edges. AEC-Q100 qualification (Grade 0, -40°C to 150°C operating range) means this part is screened for the under-hood temperature band — an engine ECU or transmission controller that sees 125°C ambient still has 25°C of headroom before the die hits the abs-max junction limit.
Hand-soldering is possible with a hot-air station and a fine tip, but the pad wicks heat quickly; a preheat plate helps avoid cold joints on the perimeter leads.
