The linear output stage dissipates heat proportional to (V_supply - V_LED) × I_channel × number_of_channels; at high voltage drops and full load, the package temperature rise can exceed 40°C above ambient. For continuous operation near the upper temperature limit, derate the per-channel current or reduce the number of active channels.
