The NXP MCIMX6Y1CVK05AB is a single-core ARM Cortex-A7 microprocessor from the i.MX6 family, clocked at 528 MHz. It targets cost-sensitive embedded Linux or RTOS applications where a full applications processor is needed but the 1 GHz+ tier would overshoot the power or budget envelope. The Cortex-A7 core delivers a good performance-per-watt ratio for human-machine interfaces, IoT gateways, and basic display controllers. Memory interface supports LPDDR2, DDR3, and DDR3L, giving the BOM designer flexibility to choose between low-power mobile DRAM or commodity desktop DDR3 — the same controller handles both, so a single PCB layout can serve multiple memory cost points. A single 10/100 Mbps Ethernet MAC is also on-chip, sufficient for many industrial IoT and edge gateway designs.
