400 MHz ARM926EJ-S with integrated connectivity
The MCIMX253DJM4A is an NXP i.MX25 series microprocessor built around a single ARM926EJ-S core running at 400 MHz. This 32-bit RISC core delivers roughly 450 DMIPS, which is enough for a Linux-capable human-machine interface (HMI), a protocol gateway, or a mid-range industrial controller without needing an external network co-processor. Two USB 2.0 ports with integrated PHY and a single 10/100 Mbps Ethernet MAC with PHY are on-die, so the BOM stays lean for designs that need both wired networking and USB host/device connectivity.
Memory controller and peripheral set
The memory controller supports LPDDR, DDR, and DDR2 SDRAM, giving the board designer flexibility to choose the memory type that best fits the cost and performance target. The 400-LFBGA (17x17 mm) package has a 0.8 mm ball pitch, which typically requires a four-layer PCB for signal integrity and power distribution. Additional interfaces include I²C, I²S, SPI, SSI, SSP, UART, and MMC/SD/SDIO, covering most embedded I/O needs without external glue logic. The display controller is limited to a keypad interface, so this part is not intended for graphical TFT panels without an external display controller.
It is suited for indoor equipment, office automation, retail terminals, and similar environments where the ambient stays within that range. It is not qualified for automotive or extended industrial temperature ranges.
