The MC9S08JM60CQH is an 8-bit MCU from NXP's S08 family, running at 48 MHz with 60 KB of on-chip FLASH program memory and 4K x 8 RAM. The 48 MHz clock is the core's ceiling — the flash wait-state profile determines actual throughput, but for a USB 2.0 full-speed peripheral controller or a LINbus node, this clock rate keeps the firmware loop tight enough to service the USB endpoint without external buffering. The 64-QFP package (14x14 mm body, 0.8 mm pitch) is a rework-friendly footprint — the exposed leads are visible under a microscope, and a hot-air station can lift the part without cooking the adjacent passives. Pin 1 is chamfered on the package corner, so orientation is unambiguous under the reflow head.
