The NXP MIMXRT1165DVM6A is a 32-bit dual-core microcontroller from the i.MX RT series, pairing an ARM Cortex-M7 core running at 600 MHz with a Cortex-M4 core at 240 MHz. This asymmetric split lets the M7 handle application-layer processing — protocol stacks, graphics, or heavy number crunching — while the M4 runs deterministic control loops, sensor fusion, or safety monitoring on a separate clock domain. The 1M x 8 internal RAM supports shared data structures between cores via hardware semaphores, avoiding the bus contention you'd see on a single-core part doing context-switch juggling.
Housed in a 289-ball LFBGA (14x14 mm), surface-mount only. The 0°C to 95°C junction temperature range suits controlled indoor environments — factory-floor cabinets, telecom shelters, or commercial appliances — but not under-hood automotive or outdoor pole-mount gear without active cooling. Supply voltage spans 2.4 V to 3.6 V, single-rail.
