Housed in a 20-TSSOP package (4.40 mm wide), this is a surface-mount part. It is reworkable with hot air, but not something you swap in the field with a soldering iron — plan for board-level replacement or socketed programming during prototyping. The 16 I/O pins are enough for a handful of inputs and outputs, but not for a memory bus or a parallel display.
