Product details

Inductance, current, and DCR — the sizing triad

The LQH43MN471J03L is a 470 µH unshielded wirewound inductor from Murata's LQH43 series, built on a ferrite drum core. The 80 mA current rating and 11.8 Ohm max DC resistance define the usable load range — above 80 mA the core saturates and inductance collapses, and the DCR sets the I²R heating that drives the temperature rise inside the 1812 package.

Q factor and self-resonant frequency

Q is 40 minimum at 796 kHz, which is a typical test point for medium-value inductors — adequate for filtering and tank circuits in that band. The self-resonant frequency is 3 MHz; above that the inductor behaves capacitively, so this part is not suitable for RF applications above a few MHz.
