AEC-Q200 drum core for DC-DC rails
The LQH3NPH2R2MMEL is a Murata LQH3-series drum core wirewound inductor with a ferrite core, shielded construction, and a 2.2 µH ±20% inductance value rated for 2.1 A continuous.
Saturation vs continuous current — the real fit check
The saturation current (Isat) is 1.8 A, which is below the 2.1 A continuous rating — in a buck converter with high ripple current, the inductor will saturate before the winding overheats, so the peak-to-peak ripple must be budgeted against the 1.8 A saturation floor, not the 2.1 A thermal limit. DC resistance is 78 mOhm max, yielding an I²R loss of roughly 0.34 W at full rated current — the 3.00 mm × 3.00 mm footprint and 1.50 mm seated height rely on the PCB copper pour and via array to pull the heat out; a board with limited copper under the part will run the core hotter than the 125°C ceiling allows. The self-resonant frequency is 60 MHz — well above the 400 kHz to 2.2 MHz switching range of most automotive DC-DC converters, so the impedance stays inductive across the operating band and the effective inductance does not collapse near the switching fundamental.
Footprint and supply posture
The 1212 (3030 Metric) case is a standard footprint shared across multiple Murata and competitor shielded inductor families — the pad layout is the same, so a BOM swap to a different 2.2 µH shielded inductor from the same footprint family does not require a board respin, though the DCR and saturation point will differ.
