Active AEC-Q200 power inductor for automotive DC-DC stages
The Murata DFE2MCAH1R0MJ0L is an active-production, shielded wirewound inductor from the DFE2M series, qualified to AEC-Q200 for automotive applications. Its 1 µH inductance with a 2.4 A continuous current rating and 2.5 A saturation current makes it a fit for point-of-load regulators and input/output filter stages in engine control units, transmission modules, and body electronics.
Parametric fit: saturation headroom and DCR thermal budget
The 2.5 A saturation current (Isat) sits only 4% above the 2.4 A rated current — a 100 mA margin. In a 2 A steady-state load, a transient surge to 2.3 A leaves only 0.2 A before the inductance rolls off. The 68 mOhm max DCR produces 390 mW of I²R loss at rated current; in a 0806 package without forced airflow, that heat must be conducted through the board's copper planes to keep the core temperature below the 150°C absolute maximum. The metal composite core and full magnetic shielding reduce radiated EMI compared to unshielded ferrite drums — relevant for CISPR 25 Class 5 conducted emissions in automotive power stages. The -40°C to 150°C operating range covers Grade 1 (125°C ambient) with margin for self-heating.
Package and board integration
The tape-and-reel packaging (Cut Tape also available) supports standard pick-and-place throughput.
