1 µH flat-wire power inductor for automotive DC-DC stages
The Murata DFE252012PD-1R0M=P2 is a shielded drum-core wirewound inductor in the DFE252012PD series, built with flat-wire winding and an iron powder core. Rated for 3.2 A continuous with a saturation current floor of 3.8 A, the 1 µH inductance (±20%) keeps the core from saturating under peak load transients in a point-of-load regulator. Maximum DC resistance is 42 mOhm — at 3.2 A the I²R loss is roughly 0.43 W, which the 1008 (2520 Metric) body dissipates through the board copper without exceeding the 125°C rated ambient. AEC-Q200 qualification (Grade 1, -40°C to 125°C) means this inductor passes the automotive reliability stress sequence: thermal shock, moisture resistance, mechanical shock, and vibration per the AEC-Q200 rev D test plan. The shielded construction contains the magnetic flux within the iron-powder core, reducing radiated EMI into adjacent traces — a requirement for CISPR 25 Class 5 compliance in an automotive ECU layout.
Package footprint and board-fit checklist
The flat-wire construction gives a lower profile than a comparable round-wire winding of the same current rating — the winding fills the bobbin window more efficiently, keeping the height under 1.2 mm. Supplied on tape-and-reel (embossed carrier, 8 mm wide) for automated pick-and-place; the cut-tape option is available for prototype builds.
