Parametric fit for a power rail
The DFE252012F-R82M=P2 is a shielded wirewound drum core inductor from Murata's DFE252012F series, built with flat-wire construction for lower DC resistance and better current handling in a compact footprint. It delivers 820 nH ±20% inductance, rated for 3.6 A continuous current with a saturation current floor of 4.9 A — the point where inductance drops by 30%. With a maximum DCR of 35 mOhm, the I²R loss at 3.6 A is about 0.45 W — enough to raise the part's temperature above ambient, so the 125°C operating ceiling gives real margin in a 85°C enclosure. The iron powder core material handles the DC bias without saturating prematurely, which matters when the inductor sits between a switching regulator and a heavy load that pulls near the rated current.
Board-fit and thermal envelope
The shielded construction contains the magnetic flux, so you can place it next to sensitive analog traces or a radio front-end without coupling noise into the signal path. Operating range spans -40°C to +125°C, covering automotive under-hood and industrial ambient temperatures. The iron powder core does not exhibit the same thermal runaway risk as ferrite at high bias currents, which simplifies derating calculations for a 3.6 A rail running at 85°C ambient.
