6.8 µH shielded power inductor for DC-DC converters
The Murata DFE252012F-6R8M=P2 is a shielded drum-core wirewound inductor in the DFE252012F series, built with flat-wire construction for a low-profile 1.2 mm seated height. It delivers 6.8 µH ±20% inductance, rated for 1.2 A continuous current with a saturation current of 1.7 A.
Current ratings and DC resistance
The 1.2 A continuous current rating is the thermal limit under normal operation; the 1.7 A saturation current (Isat) is the point where inductance drops by roughly 30% — a DC-DC converter peak current must stay below Isat to avoid efficiency collapse. The 330 mΩ maximum DCR sets the I²R conduction loss: at 1.2 A the copper loss is about 475 mW, which the 1008 (2520) package must dissipate without exceeding the 125 °C temperature ceiling.
Temperature range and deployment context
The iron powder core material maintains stable inductance across the temperature band, and the shielded construction reduces EMI coupling to nearby traces.
