What the 2.3 A rating means for the BOM
The DFE252012F-2R2M=P2: The 2.2 µH inductance is tested at 1 MHz, and the part carries a ±20% tolerance — typical for power-grade shielded inductors where the DC bias characteristic matters more than the absolute inductance at zero current. Rated at 2.3 A continuous, with a saturation current of 3.3 A (Isat). The 82 mOhm max DCR sets the copper loss — at 2.3 A that's about 0.43 W of I²R heat inside a 1008 body, which the iron powder core and -40 to +125 °C range handle without derating issues in most DC-DC converter outputs. Shielded construction with flat wire winding keeps the radiated field low — useful when the inductor sits next to a sensitive ADC or RF section on the same board.
Board-fit and package reality
The low profile fits under a 1.6 mm PCB clearance in a mezzanine stack or inside a handheld enclosure. Surface-mount, supplied on tape and reel (cut tape option available). The iron powder core is not brittle like ferrite — less risk of cracking during pick-and-place or reflow.
