What this 3.3 µH shielded inductor does on the board
The Murata DFE252010F-3R3M=P2 is a shielded power inductor from the DFE252010F series, wound on an iron powder core and housed in a 1008 (2520 Metric) surface-mount package. Its 3.3 µH inductance with ±20% tolerance is a common value for DC-DC converter output filters and power rail smoothing in compact electronics. Rated at 1.6 A continuous with a saturation current of 2.5 A, this part handles the ripple current in a buck converter without saturating the core under transient loads.
Package and rework considerations
The shielded construction keeps magnetic flux contained, reducing coupling to nearby traces or components on a dense layout. Surface-mount reflow is standard; the iron powder core is less thermally fragile than ferrite, so it survives a typical lead-free profile without cracking. Pin 1 orientation is marked by a dot on the top face — easy enough to spot under a microscope when placing or reworking.
The tape-and-reel packaging (also available as cut tape) suits both prototyping and volume assembly.
